When it comes to portraiture, there is no more enduring
medium than bronze. It is the perfect way to make a lasting tribute to an individual
or institution.
At Soper Studio, we have the knowledge and experience to produce not just
bronze sculpture, but bronze portrait sculpture. Celia Soper studied for several
years with renowned sculptor, Arthur Morgan, in his studio in Shreveport, Louisiana.
He was a well-known and much sought after sculptor doing commissions throughout
the U.S., including the Hall of Statues in the Capitol building in Washington,
D.C. The techniques she learned in sculpting and casting were time honored and
little changed from the Greek and Roman methods of lost wax sculpture. She utilizes
the finest oil-based clay to model the sculpture, working from photographs and
careful measurements of the individual. Once the piece is finished and approved
by the client, she transports it to a state-of-the-art foundry in Houston, TX
where it is cast into bronze. Her work is known for its life-like qualities as
she takes great pains to not only capture a likeness, but the very character
of the subject as well.
In addition to human subjects, she is also fond of sculpting animals and
pets.
